Favourite Choir Song: Kristallen den fina

I was part of a choir in my junior college years. One song that I love love love and cannot forget about is this song.

Luckily youtube has it:

"Kristallen den fina" (Like Crystal that's gleaming) - swedish folk song performed by male choir Orphei Drängar.
The intro is a Herding call played on cow horn by Pelle Jakobsson.

So here is the video for you to listen and enjoy :)

Events to catch in Singapore - February- March 2014

As part of our new year's resolution, we have decided to be more in tune to what is happening around us, more eager to find out the local events and new/ unexplored places in Singapore during weekends (or some naughty weekdays!) for a safe and fun days/nights.

I come up with this kinda 'bucket list' of events to go for the first half of the year (and I will keep updating the list with newer events from insingtimeoutsingaporeI-S Magazine, and expatliving):

Things to do in Singapore

So our new year's resolution for 2014 is to live life more dangerously and explore new things. Get to do things we have never tried before, and not to go to those familiar and too comfortable places anymore!

For now, here is the list of places/activities to go:
1) Prawning - done!

We went to: Hai Bin J @ Jurong. 'Twas fun! Especially for first time prawners. We reached the place at about 3 pm, and we immediately get the rods, baits (chicken liver), more superior baits a.k.a earthworms, and the shrimp traps (just to keep those prawns we successfully caught).

Prices as shown on their website is as below:
Booking Rate:
$18 per rod 1 hr
$28 per rod 2 hr
$33 per rod 3 hr
*Additional hour will be charge at $11 per hour.

Fishing is also available but it is only open in the evening at 7pm. The fishing rates are not set on per hour basis, but from the rods. It is $5 per rod + line + hook, and once you break it, you have to get a new one or off from the pond!
There are A LOT of big-sized and crammed fishes in the pond, but I guess it is truly not easy to get them with the fishing rods provided. You cannot bring your own fishing rods here.

After 3 hours of hardwork and skills put to use *beginners alert*, we finally got a good enough catch for our dinner (thanks to the prawning master who went with us that day!). We had a good dinner of fresh BBQ prawns, also ordered plain rice, stingray, kangkong, and Thai-style chicken from the seafood bbq stall there. I heard we could also ask them to cook our prawns for us for a fee. However, it is not normal for people to BBQ the fish, they normally bring the caught fish to cook at home, or maybe the fish is not really those that we normally eat :p

Overall, it was a happy place! Recommended to go when you have a time to pass and are bored with the normal cafe hop/ movie routine :)

2) Horse riding

Would love to try this one day at Gallop Stable. I read a blogger's review here, and think it could be a fun random weekend activity. I am interested to go to Brunei for a more leisurely and prettier trail rides along the beach, which I found out through this post and this one.

Anyway, a few pictures i took from the website:

Fees for trail rides on weekdays would be $85 for one hour, and $95 during weekends (ages 7 and above, including adults)
Pony rides are available too (for kids aged 2 years and above) at $45 for 20 mins on weekdays, and $55 on weekends.

Their opening hours:
Saturdays & Sundays/ Public Holidays
10:00am ~ 12:00pm / 2:00pm ~ 6:00pm*
Tuesdays to Sundays
8:00am ~ 11:30am / 2:30pm ~ 6:30p,m*
Mondays to Sundays
10:00am ~ 7:00pm*

(All timings are subject to changes)

They have public pony rides, carriage rides, pony feeding (only Pasir Ris and Punggol), donkey feeding and pony hire for birthday parties too!

3) Shooting for fun

Would love to try this one day! After searching and reading reviews here and there,
I think the best option would be to go to the Singapore Gun Club, as stated in this forum post. The cost would be about $70. Here is an extract from the forum:

"For the Public who wish to experience the fun in shooting may also join the Club as a Day Member.
The charges for day membership are as follow:

4) Yacht charter

NTU is having this promotion, so we are all excited to find a day for a quick yacht trip. Can't wait!

5) Pick up golf

There is this deal on Groupon that I am contemplating whether I should get it...
It even has a certificate of accomplishment at the end of the beginner course.
*heck it has sold out! Should have been impulsive and just got it..sigh..*

6) Electric Run 2014 Singapore - 11-12 April 2014

Bought the tickets! Seems like a cool event. What I like about it is the fact that it does not look like a rigorous kind of marathon or other normal runs, but more of an 'enjoy the night' run in a lighted up space with a nice finish line celebration after party to wind down in the middle of your busy lifestyle.

Here are some photos from their website/facebook:
Seems fun right? Egg-cited much! :)

7) Changi Airport Super Slide at Terminal 3 and Free Movie Screenings

Okay, I admit these are rather random... but still worth a try? HAHA

8) Extreme Sailing Series 2014: Act I Singapore

Event info here.

Where: The Promontory @ Marina Bay
When: Feb 21-2310am

These are all for now,, do you have any more suggestions of things to do in Singapore or around Singapore?
Would appreciate some insights :)

Loving my work :) everyday I go home in high spirit, with that thankful feeling, for the opportunity and the people; that sense of achievement to keep me motivated, hopeful for a fulfilling future, knowing that I do gain a lot from this learning-working internship.

Thank you, God! Please bless us all, esp. my family always :)

Demi Lovato - Fix a Heart (An Intimate Performance)

'Tis true: "you never really can fix a heart" :') no matter how much you try, though it's comforting to know you tried.

Green, laid-back, comfortable homes

So I wish to decorate my home... or maybe I could settle with any other homes

Whenever I plan to move to  new house, I always dream of having little corners of the house filled with my DIY creations. I  like to think of the house to have a simple, minimalist yet modern and edgy design.

So whenever I browse the net for daily inspirations and relaxations,
I always make the effort to archive all these stumbled-upon awesome creative ideas.

Apparently, the task of decorating (or may I say the privilege) is always assigned to my mom. Haha I think sometimes it's because I've got too many ideas that it scares my other family members too.. So I thought I would organise my ideas here in writing, and share them with you,

perhaps for my future house or any takers?
